Our History

Since 1955, Toho Acetylene has woven a story of resilience, growth, and commitment to excellence.
From our modest beginnings to a pivotal presence in the Gas Industry,
each chapter reflects our dedication to shaping a future filled with possibilities.

  • 1955 March

    “Toho Acetylene Co., Ltd” is established in Sakata, Yamagata. Initial capital is 3 million yen.

  • 1957 December

    Koriyama Plant is established in Koriyama-shi, Fukushima (Currently, Koriyama Sales Office).

  • 1958 November

    Head office relocated from Sakata-shi, Yamagata to Chuo-ku, Tokyo.

  • 1959 April

    Sendai plant is established in Tagajo-shi, Miyagi (Currently, Sendai Branch).

  • 1961 September

    Our Company is listed on the Second Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange
    (Delisted in October 1963 due to merger, re-listed in January 1964).

  • November

    Hachinohe Plant is established in Hachinohe-shi, Aomori (Currently, Hachinohe Branch).

  • 1962 October

    Niigata Office is established in Kurosaki-machi, Nishikanbara-gun (Currently, Niigata-shi),
    Niigata (Currently, Niigata Sales Office).

  • 1964 November

    Akita Plant is established in Akit-shi, Akita (Currently, Akita and Sakata Sales Offices).

  • 1966 June

    Liquefied oxygen and nitrogen production facilities were established at Sendai Plant (Unit 1)

  • 1970 May

    Chiba Sales Office is established in Shiroi-machi, Inba-gun
    (Currently, Shiroi-shi), Chiba (Currently, Kanto Sales Office).

  • June

    Renewal of liquefied oxygen and nitrogen production facilities at Sendai Plant (Unit 2)

  • November

    Sapporo Office is established in Sapporo-shi, Hokkaido (Currently, Sapporo Sales Office).

  • 1975 April

    Sakata Suiso Plant is established and hydrogen production has begins (Currently, Toho Sakata Suiso Co., Ltd.).

  • 1991 October

    Renewal of liquefied oxygen, nitrogen,
    and argon production facilities at Sendai Plant (Unit 3) (Currently, Tagajo Plant).

  • 2000 June

    Kitanihon Acetylene Co., Ltd. is established in Hachinohe-shi, Aomori.

  • October

    Sendai Plant (Currently, Tagajo Plant) has received certificate ISO 9001.

  • 2001 January

    Hachinohe Office relocated to Kita Inter Industrial Park, Hachinohe-shi.

  • 2002 January

    Sakata Suiso Plant has received certificate ISO 9001.

  • 2003 June

    Sakata Office is established in Sakata-shi, Yamagata (Currently, Akita and Sakata Sales Offices).

  • 2004 November

    Head office relocated to 2-4-10 Higashi-Nihonbashi, Chuo-ku, Tokyo

  • 2005 January

    Sendai Plant (Currently, Tagajo Plant) (Affiliated organization: Toho Sakata Suiso)
    has received the environmental certificate ISO14001.

  • 2008 April

    Sales Headquarters relocated to Aoba-ku, Sendai-shi, Miyagi.

  • 2012 December

    New building constructed in Tagajo-shi, Miyagi,
    and head office functions (Administration and sales headquarters) moved to the new building.
    Head office relocated to 2-16-13 Nihonbashi, Chuo-ku, Tokyo.

  • 2014 June

    Head office relocated to 2-3-32 Sakae, Tagajo, Miyagi (Relocation to newly registered location)

  • 2017 April

    Osaka Office is established in Chuo-ku, Osaka-shi, Osaka (Currently, Osaka Branch).

  • June

    Our company is listed on the First Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

  • 2022 April

    Listing changed to the Prime Market in accordance with the reorganization of the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

  • July

    Tokyo Branch is established in Minato-ku, Tokyo.
    Tokyo Office relocated to the same location of Tokyo Branch.

  • 2024 Jan

    Moved Osaka Brach to Kita-ku, Osaka-shi, Osaka.
